GOCAA Concerto Performer list

01 Pianist Yiyan Shen (China),MMus, Chinese pianist, U.N.International Peace Artists, was born in Xi'an, China. she studied piano from age 4 at Xi’an Conservatory of Music junior department. At the age 17, She studied at the Royal Conservatorie of Scotland and exchange to the Cleveland Institute of Music by The Duet Scholarship and received First-Class Honours Bachelor's Degree. At the age of 22, she obtained her Master Degree in Piano Performance from the Royal College of Music, and becoming the youngest distinction graduate student of 2022. She studied with many world's leading pianists Prof. Jianing Kong, Dmitry Alexeev, Aaron Shorr, Kathryn Brown, and Arie Vardi.

Her first success was Second prize at the 2012 Tiansheng Neuschwanstein National Competition. Other awards include Gold medal in The Sixth Singapore International Chinese Competition, First Prize in The Seventh Shanghai International Youth Piano Competition. Second Prize in Germany Hamburg International Piano Competition, Special Award in 2019 Beethoven Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition in the UK and Highly Commended in Governer prize for Chamber music, Second prize in 10th international piano competition Milan. Yamaha Scholarship, Pearl River Kayserburg scholarship.

As a soloist Yiyan performed with the Chamber Orchestra of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Perugia Symphony Orchestra in Italy. Also completed her concert tour dring 2019-2022, and has performed at many majority venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Stevenson Hall, Lang Lang concert Hall in Xinghai Conservatory of Music, St Paul's Church in Bedford, St saviour pimlico, St Mary's Church in London, etc. She also was invited to participate many International music festivals with scholarships at the 2016 Beijing BIMFA Festival, 2018 Chethams International Piano Festival ,Salzburg summer piano festival, Aspen music festival and the 2022 British Isles Festival. Her performance of 'Shanbei Qingyun' was included as demonstration performance in the teaching material of “Chinese Piano repertories Teaching Course" of Xi'an Conservatory of Music.

Yiyan also plays chamber music and harpsichord, her chamber group represented the school in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Baroque Chamber Music Week and performances in 2015. An ensemble album of Schubert's works released in 2020.

In addition, She is also committed to piano education and promoting the ABRSM education system in China. She has served as a piano lecturer at the Paisley Conservatory of Music in the UK, also been awarded excellent mentors at the Berya Award, Italian Coreno International Piano Competition,  US Open Piano Competition, and the 12th Chopin Youth International Piano Competition. She was also a jury member at the 2019 The One Global Piano Festival, The judge of the Pearl River Kaesarsburg International Youth Piano Competition and held public masterclasses in China. In 2022, She recorded a demonstration video for the ABRSM's Grading Exam Series textbook by Paul Harris published by Faber Music Ltd.

02 Pianist Dylan Lee (US) has been studying piano since the age of four with Ying-Chien Wang. Dylan has won countless awards and competitions as a solo artist, including the Baroque, Contemporary, and Theme Festivals from the Music Teachers’ Association of California as well as Branch Honors and State Honors after his outstanding achievements in both the Advanced level and Panel Advanced Certificate of Merit levels during his youth studies. In addition, Dylan was also the winner of the Southwestern Youth Music Festival. Dylan is currently a piano major at the University of California, Irvine studying under Dr. Lorna Griffitt as well as under the chamber music instruction with Julliard alumnus Sarah Koo. He received a masterclass from Dr. Jeanette Louise Yaryan who has given him recognition for having “really great technique”. Dylan is also an established collaborative artist and has accompanied countless singers who have won prestigious vocal competitions and awards. He has accompanied nine singers, who all won awards, in GOCAA’s voice divisions. He is also a large-scale accompanist and is currently the piano accompanist for the New Orange County Children’s Choir Ensemble Group, and the choir recently performed in Vienna and Salzburg. Dylan has performed in numerous venues and centers, including Carnegie Hall(Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage), Segerstrom Center for the Arts, The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, the Irvine Barclay Theatre, Richard Nixon Presidential Library, Minoriten Church, St. Peter’s Church, and Mondsee Abbey, the famous The Sound of Music church in Austria. To further expand his musical journey, Dylan has recently attended the Orfeo Music Festival in Italy in July 2023 to participate in the international performance and competition, where he won first in the piano

division and second in cumulative. He had numerous appearances in Italy, including St. Margaret’s Church and Vigil Raber Saal. In addition, he received both a masterclass and performance class from Steinway artist Faina Lushtak. He has gained recognition from faculty members including Irina Krivonos and Steinway artist Jeremy Samolesky.

04 Zikai Andy Wang(CANADA), 10-year old, started learning piano at the age of six with

Dr. Olga Chichova. Since then, he has been a frequent prize winner of national

and international competitions and music festivals, Including the OMFA Ontario Provincial,  Little Mozarts International Music Competition, Rocky Mountain Piano Competition,  Music & Stars International Competition, Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival, NYMF, PMF, etc. Andy is also an award winner of Steinway’s Canadian Young Artist Standards of Excellence Awards in 2021. In 2022, he played in Carnegie Hall with the New York Chamber Orchestra. In addition to music, Andy is an Ontario Junior Swim Athlete. In his Leisure time, he likes

visual art, ski and computer.

03 Felix Suo-(Australia) is a young pianist from Australia, he is honored to be a GOCAA Young Artist, and achieved ATCL Associate Diploma Trinity College of London at age 8. He is honored to receive a music scholarship from the Polish Foundation Elena Aleksiejuk. Felix performed in Tianjin Juilliard Piano Festival, performed in Carnegie Hall New York, performed with symphony orchestra in Los Angeles, performed with Juilliard QingXin Ensemble in China, performed in Australia’s Got Talent in front of 1400 audience. He won over thirty First Prizes in competitions from Poland, USA, China, Korea, Russia, Singapore, Germany, UK, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Australia, such as GOCAA international piano competition, Piano Competition Online (PCO), Gdansk Global Grand Final des Musikwettbewerbs der Deutschen Philharmonie, American Protégé International Piano and String Competition, G-Clef International Music Competition...

Felix Suo’s piano teacher is Igor Machlak from the University of Melbourne. He also has had private and public master classes with Professor Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń from the Academy of Music Gdańsk, Academy of Music Bydgoszcz Poland; Professor Gabriel Kwok from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts; Professor Yunlin Yang from Shanghai Conservatory of Music China, Professor Jinsang Lee from Korea National University of Arts, and Professor Dean Anderson from La Sierra University from USA.

Felix Suo has scheduled a one-hour solo recital in Melbourne, and a one-hour solo recital in Adelaide in 2024. He also actively performed in church concerts and charity concerts. In addition to piano, Felix also loves pipe organ, composing, conducting, snorkeling, camping, and reading.

04 Ziqing Lin (China )

Lin Ziqing, 11, is studying in the fifth grade of the Music Primary School Affiliated  to Shanghai Conservortory Music . Under the guidance of Ms.Wang Guanwen, Special associate professor of the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and  Master of Piano Performance of Manhattan Conservatory of Music in New York.

06 Zhiqian Lv (China)

Born in 2009 in Shanghai, China, Zhiqian began his piano studies at the age of three and half. Since 2015, he has been studying piano with Professor Kuanwen Wang of the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He is currently a ninth-grade student in this school. Since studying in this middle school, he has been the winner of the Niu Ende scholarships in three successive academic years.

As a young piano student, he shows great zeal for classical music and has enduring fascination with the piano. His favorite composer is Chopin. Therefore, he has already played several Chopin’s works in different genres. In the next two semesters, he plans to study all 24 preludes and the Concerto No.1 of Chopin. Besides, he has also learned many works from the Baroque, Classical, Impressionist periods, and the great contemporary composers such as Wild-Gershwin, Kapustin, and Tan Dun. Since the 2022 academic year, he has started playing the chamber music in the form of piano trio. Throughout his playing, the audience can feel his strong desire for expression and his communication with the composer that traverses the space and the time. As the artist director of  Nashville Chopin International Competition said: “You are an absolutely incredible artist that connects with the audience like no other. ”

He has ever performed in the different halls, such as the Shanghai Music Hall, He Luting Concert Hall, Music Hall of Xiamen International Conference Center, and Horowitz Concert Hall of Steinway House. In addition, he has attended a lot of piano competitions and won top prizes of major ones including First Prize of 2023 Nashville Chopin International Piano Competition, Champion of 2023 the Fifth US Music Certification Exams Piano Open Competition Finals, Gold Prize of 2022 the 3RD WARSAW International Youth Piano Competition China Finals and Second Prize of 2021 Shanghai International Music Festival Piano Competition. In May of this year, he was selected to the 30th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia, Poland.

07 Wu, James, (CANADA)

8 years old, started playing both violin and piano at age of 5. He began his violin since age 5 and currently studies with Kevin A. Lefohn.  James is a prizewinner of numerous awards in local and international competitions. He has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, twice in 2022 and again three times in 2023. James made his concerto debut as a soloist in December 2022, performing with Symphony Irvine in Los Angeles and in April 2023, performing with Odin Quartet in Toronto. With a passion for sharing his music, he performs regularly in charity recitals. James enjoys reading and playing soccer.

08 Ada Zhang ( US)

is a high schooler studying piano for 8 years. In recent years, she has competed in GOCAA's international music competitions in both Amatur and Professional divisions. Placing silver in the amateur division in 2022, and bronze in the professional division in 2023. She has also placed third overall in the Lions Club Bland Piano Competition in 2019. Ada has also performed in various places such as Weill Concert Hall, San Diego, San Francisco, and New York. Coming into this Concerto competition, she hopes to achieve a good performance while learning through the process.

09 Chanel Xu, (US )

born in April 2008, a passionate and dedicated piano student. She discovered her love for the piano at an early age, then started on her journey of artistic exploration.

With her curiosity for melodies and harmonies, Chanel began formal piano lessons at the age of 8, guided by the talented instructor Lin Liu. Under Liu's mentorship, Chanel not only acquired essential skills and techniques for musical expression but also developed a keen curiosity for melodies and harmonies.

Chanel's commitment to her musical pursuits extends beyond the confines of her piano lessons. She actively engages in various musical events and competitions, showcasing not only her talent but also her diligence. Notable achievements include a silver award at the International Youth Music Festival in 2018, 1st prize at the Vienna "Grand Prize Virtuoso" in 2022, and a 2nd place finish in the Rhapsody Young Musician Competition in 2023. In 2022, she achieved an advanced level in the Certificate of Merit, earning her a place at the convention.

Chanel has showcased her prowess in both classical and contemporary genres, captivating audiences with her soulful interpretations. As she continues to refine her artistry, Chanel remains committed to personal growth and musical excellence. With a future filled with aspirations of concert performances and collaborations, She looks forward to sharing the magic of music with fellow enthusiasts.

10 Haocheng Wang (汪浩成) US

16 years old pianist, born on May 10th, 2007 at Shanghai. Began to learn piano at 5 yrs old. First personal recital at 8 yrs old, has several first or second-place finishes at international competitions in United States and China. Following 8 years of piano experience, I moved to Fresno, California in 2019 to study piano with instructor Fangfang Pan. Performed many times in public, recommended by Steinway and Sons US as “a young, promising artist who delivered a sparkling performance.” Invited by Sir Phili and Lady Isabella Naylor Leyland to give a solo recital at Paul Shaghoian concert hall, raised $13,580 for Non-Profits.
